The memorable words and deeds of Martin Luther King, Jr, Rosa Parks, and other well-known  figures of the American Civil Rights Movement are undeniable.  But the truth is that many many more ordinary folk, people whose names you likely have never heard of, took actions that ignited and propelled this movement forward in ways that had a profound impact on our country.  Drawing heavily from The Small and the Mighty, a 2024 book by historian Sharon McMahon, Jan Sacco will present the story of one such unsung American, whose courage and perseverance in the face of enormous social and personal obstacles, changed the course of history.
