January 27th is recognized as International Holocaust Remembrance Day to commemorate the victims of the holocaust on the anniversary of the date when the Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated in 1945, 80 years ago next Monday.  This service, titled Harkening Within, will focus on the story of Etty Hillesum, a remarkable Dutch Jewish woman who refused to hide from the German Nazis after they invaded Holland.  Hillesum perished at age 29 in Auschwitz but left behind a remarkable diary and compelling life story providing profound reflections on how to live a centered and principled life in times of despicable violence and despair.
