Guilt Free?

Please join us in person or remotely as Rev. Steve Edington bring us his sermon Guilt Free? Rev. Edington writes:

One of the often-repeated reasons I would hear from persons finding their way to UUism is, “I like it that you don’t have all that guilt here!” It generally came from those who had grown up in an especially harsh religious environment, where they were practically made to feel guilty about their very existence. I was always glad to offer them alternative way of being religious.

But would we really want to live in a completely guilt-free world, where no one felt any accountability for their misdeeds? I hardly think so. In this sermon I want to share the distinction I make between what I call reality based guilt, and unnecessary or irrational guilt; and throw in a little UU history in the process.
