The Glimpsed Ideal

In this service by Tom Putnam, The Glimpsed Ideal, we’ll glance back at the history of “The Troubles” in Northern Ireland which the Nobel laureate, Seamus Heaney, lived through as a young man and which informed his poetry. That moment in world history speaks to us anew today. What lessons can we learn from it and, especially, from the heroic role of Maine’s own George Mitchell in bringing peace to a divided land.
